Flight Paths is a multi-band ring formed from six loops of sterling silver wire, fanned and bound into a single structure. The bands spiral without meeting, tracing parallel trajectories that suggest orbit rather than alignment.
The piece explores orientation as a condition of relation: bodies circling one another, held in motion by proximity and distance. Its open structure emphasises movement, repetition and gravitational tension – an approach without arrival, direction without resolution. The polished surface reflects light and environment, reinforcing a sense of continual motion and external reference rather than inward closure.
Within Holding Pattern, Flight Paths functions as a point of departure. It establishes the collection’s central concern with orbit, repetition, and relational geometry, articulating the body as something oriented through movement rather than fixed position. The ring reads as an aerial view – a diagram of the situated self understood as trajectory.
